Good Friday

Good Friday.
The darkest day in the history of the world.
And yet, the very goodest day in the history of the world!

Light and dark.
Day and night
Peace and Chaos
Joy and pain

The world is full of contradictions.
It’s all about the choices we make.
That’s what life is, the choices we make.

Do I choose to eat or not to eat?
Do I choose to stay awake or go to sleep?
Do I choose to hate?
Do I choose to forgive?

It’s about the choices Jesus made.
And on Good Friday he made the hardest decision any man ever had to make.
That choice tilted the world on its side and forever changed the way men and God interact.

He chooses to love me.
I choose to love him
He will never leave me.
Why would I want to leave him?

He makes me complete.
He answers all my questions
He fills me with himself, with pure joy!
He tells me things and offers me chances to share what he tells me with others.

THE LORD OF THE DANCE
I danced on a Friday when the sky turned black
It’s hard to dance with the devil on your back
They buried my body and they thought I’d gone
But I am the dance and I still go on!

They cut me down and I lept up high
I am the light that will never, never die
I’ll live in you if you'll live in me
I am the Lord of the dance said he!

Dance, then, wherever you may be
I am the Lord of dance said he
And I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be

And I’ll lead you all in the dance said he.

Please have the most blessed and joy filled Resurrection Sunday Ever!

What's with the gorilla??

When my husband and I were married we decided that we would not promote Santa Claus in our Christmas traditions at home.  That horrified several family members who then inundated our wee bairnies with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

As our wee ones grew I came up with a strategy to promote fun but not get bogged down in the lies that go with the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny.

When our son lost his first tooth we told him to expect a visit from the Tooth Gorilla.

So, when morning came there would be a crumpled dollar bill under their pillows.
After all, gorillas don't have wallets.  They carry their cash around in their hands.

Having tackled the Tooth Gorilla, we moved on to Easter...

The Easter Gorilla comes once a year, bringing a basket of goodies and hiding the eggs we've colored and left out waiting for him.

But, remember, if your chocolate bunny is missing an ear, don't complain!  After all, hiding eggs is hungry work!  And if one or two of the eggs is cracked, that's OK.  Gorillas a clumsy.

Now, about Christmas...

This is Santa's helper.  He was bringing you a candy cane and a gift, but was momentarily distracted by the truth.

So, for a little while the Easter Gorilla will grace the top of my blog.  I hope you enjoy him as much as I do!

God bless and have an extra exceptional Resurrection Day!

The Invitation

The Invitation
Matthew 22:11-14
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.
13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

Why was the man thrown out? Was it because he had the wrong clothes on?  Or because he hadn’t been invited?

Why did the King call him “friend” yet tie him up and toss him out?

I think it was because he was speechless.  He didn’t have a ready reply.  Why didn’t he lie?  Maybe he didn’t know the right words.  Maybe he was unprepared because he didn’t anticipate the question.

Was he shocked?  Did he know he’d been caught?

Was this a person so self deluded that he was shocked at being rejected?  I know many, many people who would fall into that category.  When they stand before the throne of the Father will they feel as if they have been found out, or will they be shocked at being rejected?

So, the parable isn’t about the wedding feast or wearing the right clothes.  It’s about the ready and simplest of responses.  If the man had said, “Because I was invited.” would he still have been thrown out?

We are, each of us, individually invited.  And the only acceptable response is, “Thank you!  I will come!”  The King provides the wedding clothes.  We don’t bring them with us.

I know the answer.  it will be because I am invited.  My invitation came in an Easter card.  And all that is required of me it to know that.
